For various changes President Macron is planning for France’s State-owned and controlled SNCF – Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer – railroad company, the rail unions, dissatisfied, have called its workers off on strike.

At first the plan was for a month’s strike – all of 30 consecutive days – but it has now been decided to spread the strike over three months: APRIL, MAY AND JUNE.

Has your heart just sunk into your boots – boots which will have to be doing some walking should you be in Paris, or anywhere else in France, these months? I can tell you that the French, although they understand why the SNCF workers are going on strike, do all the same dread the thought. They have to get to work and home from work, and how are they going to manage this, is what all want to know.

Here are the strike days:

Just for good measure, this coming Thursday (22 March 2018) the SNCF will also be on strike, and the RATP – Regie Autonome des Transport Parisiens – will join them.  In other words, this Thursday Paris and its region will have no buses, metro, RER, trams and no trains.
