Since ever Frenchmen have been considered dandies.

They walked poodles and ate quiche.

However, for the past few years Frenchman have been trying to appear manlier.

Thus, now they rather walk Rottweilers and tuck into a hamburger and fries, eating with their hands.

But, last week the French weekly news magazine Le Point revealed that for the three months that Emmanuel Macron has been President of France the State has had to pay out €26,000 for make-up for him.

The State is me and all the other tax payers in France.

The presidential palace – the Élysée Palace – has confirmed that this is correct. It’s comment was that this is far less than previous presidents have spent on make-up.

So, now you know. The next time you see President Macron and you think ‘not bad’ think again! Picture in your mind’s eye the tubes of foundation, eye-shadow, mascara etc on the shelf in his bathroom.

I, a woman, does not spend even €100 a month on make-up for the simple reason that I do not have that kind of money. But, as a tax-payer I am keeping our President in make-up.

Have a look at the following conversions of € 26,000  :
