I am from now on to list my articles on Amazon.com’s Kindle Store. You will be able to download them for free if you are listed on Amazon.com’s Prime.

If you are not then you would have to pay a very very small fee to download them.

If you do not have a Kindle or another reading device know that you can download and install a Kindle App for free on the Amazon site.

My first article to be listed on Amazon.com’s Kindle Store is 10,000 words long and over 19 pages.

It is about French nobleman Xavier Dupont de Ligonnes wanted for the murder of his wife and four teenage children.

It will cost you $2.05 or £1.35 or 1.58 Euros to download.

When you’ve downloaded the article and read it, I would really appreciate it if you could leave a comment on Amazon.com so that I know what you’ve made of it.

For example, do you think he shot himself?

Do you think he is still alive? Perhaps in hiding in a monastery?

You can also tell me what you think of the way I told the story.

When you are on my page on Amazon.com you can at the same time have a look at my book DIE IN PARIS which is out as an E-book and will be published mid-April as a beautiful paperback too.

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2013:

French investigators with the assistance of cavers have started a new search for a body that could be that of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. They are searching the very many caves in the Maures Massif in the Var region of Southern France where he was last seen alive and photographed by CCTV cameras outside a hotel where he had spent the night.

As soon as it is a little warmer they will also begin searching the very deep galleries of the Mayons lead mines also in the region.

Yes. Even though, I have this funny feeling they won’t find his body any time soon. Another bad case of the “10 years investigation” rule here in France.
Do you know their two dogs also had been given drugs before being shot? This to me seems extremely considerate if they were actually killed by their master. But if not, what else.

Thanks for the correction. I reread the article today and saw some typos. I must now find how to pull that version of the article and replace it with a corrected one. I know it can be done.

Agnes did become involved with a guru. I had his name but for legal reasons did not want to give it. He was also questioned by the police.

Does one know how a killer’s mind works? Would Xavier have been able to think rationally if he’d just shot to death his wife and four children? He might have taken the rifle in order to defend himself when the cops get to him. To have committed suicide rather than let them take him alive.

Do you know that they’ve started to look for his body yet again in the lead mines?

    Thanks for your answer.
As for myself, I don’t think of XDL as a fugitive. You’re right. He could have used some alias and sailed on a ship from Toulon to any exotic destination, but that wouldn’t explain many spooky factors in this case.
The guru you allude to wasn’t him, but his mom, with whom he had severed many links. All the weird mentions in his last mails/emails could hardly have been total fantasy, since the man was presumably smart. Smart, but naive.
If he planned to runaway on a cruise ship, why make the trip from Nantes last for over a week when police didn’t even look for him, why take his shotgun with him, why leave that Formula 1 motel on foot many miles from any harbour?
BTW, may I slightly argue with one mention in your piece on Amazon?
As far as I know, presumption of innocence was installed in France as early as 1789, through Article 9 of the “Declaration of the rights of the citizens”, that was never revoked. What is tricky about it is that in the Penal code, once you’re being tried, the burden of proving innocence rests upon the accused. So it’s a thin line (you have to prove the presumption is right), but that’s the way it is.
PS I think it’s interesting to consider both Ligonnès and Al-Hilli died or disappeared in such secluded surroundings.

I do not usually put my articles on Amazon but the ‘plouc’ I had written this one for wanted me to delete the American ‘connection’ as he thought that it was not important. See why I call him a ‘plouc’. And as I did not want the article to lie forgotten on my hard disc I put it on Amazon.

I think Xavier Dupont de Ligonnes is well and alive.

I have several theories of where he can be:

    (1) Using one of his very many identities he boarded a vessel in one of the Mediterranean ports and is now in a country in the Far East. For example China, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia.

    (2) Using one of his very many identities he boarded a vessel in one of the Mediterranean ports and is now in a country in Africa. His father lived in Africa and father and son must have discussed Africa so Xavier would have known where in Africa he could live without detection.

    (3) Using one of his very many identities he boarded a vessel in one of the Mediterranean ports and is now in the US. Only problem I see with this one is that his face could be known in the US because of reports about the case at the time of the murder of his family.

    (4) He is in a monastery of some Christian sect, not in France but in Spain.

    (5) He is with the Opus Dei having convinced them successfully that he is innocent and that his life is in danger so he must hide.

I do not see that he had committed suicide. He was not the suicide type. He had planned the killing of his family scrupulously and his get-away and disappearance were in the plan.

    Marylin,
Just bought and read your paper on the Ligonnès case.
    I like it.
There are many ways to decipher that unsolved drama. One of them being Xavier was himself murdered in the south of France, and his body removed.
    Tell me what you think.
