A few days ago I visited the magnificent house – estate really – of the French writer, historian, diplomat and politician Chateaubriand. Also having been a gourmet we owe the creation of the Chateubriand Steak to him.

I wrote about my visit on the two websites Englishinformerinfrance and Englishinformerintheuk and you can read my piece here and here.

If you are looking for a really charming place to spend a few hours, or a day, I highly recommend Chateaubriand’s house. It is just outside Paris in the town of Châtenay-Malabry. But I will leave you to read what I had written.

I thought when I read the headline that you were talking about the Chateau de Combourg, where he grew up, which has to be one of the most sinister and creepy places I’ve ever visited!

The house looks beautiful – what a contrast!

I do not know the Chateau de Combourg, but as I like creepy and sinister, I am sure to visit it now.
