Topless on the beach is okay

From today, Monday, April 11, 2011, women here in France must watch it if they want to cover up.

Forbidden it is by the parliamentary vote of October 11, 2010, for a woman to wear the burqa and the niqab in public. The hijab though is allowed.

The niqab - banned

The law was voted after a Muslim woman was arrested when driving her car wearing the niqab. The court judged it difficult for a woman to see the road when in the niqab.

The hijab - allowed

If a woman does still appear in public from this day wearing either the burqa or the niqab she will be fined €150 ($215 / £133).

If anyone had asked her to wear one or the other, that person could be sentenced to a year in jail and €30,000 ($44,000 / £26,500) fine.

The burqa - banned

And anyone who forces a woman to wear either could be sent to jail for two years and be fined €60,000 ($87,000 / £53,000).

Although such legislation has been contemplated in both Belgium and Holland, France is the first E.U. country to implement it.

An estimated 1900 women wear the niqab in France. Of them, half live in Paris and the Paris suburbs, two-thirds hold French nationality, and 90% are over the age of forty.

It often refers to the garment that many women wear covering their entire body except for their eyes…Last updated June 21 2004…..

It’s such a dodgy area! It can often be revealing to turn things around. What about if we all wore niqabs and burqas, men and women, what would things be like then? Bloody laughable if you ask me. We’d all be walking around like a bunch of zombies wondering who everyone was and wishing someone would just say, “Oh look, this is ridiculous, just everybody take these stupid things off, will you?!”

Way to go France. Not only is it difficult for a woman to see properly driving, but when there is a problem and she goes in to court, who knows who is behind that niqab – there has to be a point where immigrants live by the laws of the country they have moved to rather than imposing their own laws.
