Just 9 kilometres (6 miles) from central Paris is the Domaine of Sceaux, pronounced So  – the Park of Sceaux with its castle (chateau).

It is an excellent place for a day’s outing.

I wrote about it on the site – English Informer in France – and I am sure that reading my article you will decide that you want to visit it.

I start my article as follows:

The days promising to be warmer from now on, you may be wondering where to go should you be visiting Paris, or should you live in Paris. I mean, where to go to be far from the madding crowd: the tourists who pour into Paris every summer.

Look no further: I have found the perfect place.

It is the Park of Sceaux (Domaine de Sceaux) a mere 9 kilometres (6 miles) south from in front of Paris’s Notre Dame Cathedral (Point Zero from where distances are measured) and only a few minutes ride by train from central Paris.  (Sceaux is pronounced So.)
